2, 2004 -- 63 Block Afghan RaceA
very long time ago when Jen asked me to teach her to crochet we went to Wal-mart
and picked up hooks, yarn and two copies of the Leisure Arts leaflet called 63
Easy-To-Crochet Pattern Stitches Combine to Make an Heirloom Afghan:
The
idea was that I'd refresh my memory on crochet while teaching her a new hobby.
I really enjoyed the leaflet more as a pictionary reference for how to
do stitches than to make the actual afghan. I'm not sure Jen ever finished making
hers. Now
I'm pregnant with our first baby and moving out of 2nd trimester and into 3rd
and finding I've had to give up a lot of the active things I normally like to
do. I won't be racing at the Disney half marathon this year. I had to stop taking
water aerobics because of morning sickness. All the garden plants are dead from
lack of attention. Re-learning to skate is on the back shelf even though the new
park is so nice and handy because I don't want to fall.
Shoot, Paul and I shower together and he's taken over washing my lower
body because I have so much trouble bending down! Today
I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I have 127 days to go. With 63 squares to make, I'm
racing baby to see who gets here first -- the completed afghan or the kid.
It's most likely going to be a race to see if it is done before the kid's first
birthday. Heh. <<
