October 2, 2004 -- #2 HDC and Busy, busy.

Busy, busy over the course of the day... getting this 63 Block project prepared and getting all the old stuff organized so I don't have it hanging over my head while I work.

First I cut out a cardboard into an 8" square with a 7" square drawn within it to help me gauge these 63 blocks as I work on them. Easier than dealing with a ruler or measuring tape.

Later I went out and got new yarn, more Ziploc gallon freezer bags, and a new large plastic storage bin.

I decided to go with Red Heart worsted in Claret, Soft White and Dark Navy for the 63 block afghan -- sort of subdued patriotic colors:

After a nap, detangled, sorted and bagged the old yarns in the curret project box. I sorted out things in various stages of completion and bagged that. Then all the bags went into the box:

I think moving to clear bags and clear boxes is a biiiiig improvement over the old opaque box and random bags:

Now I can see what's in the box without opening it and what each bag has without rooting around. I won't tell you how many other boxes in the storage closet I have sort out. :P

I was going to sort Paul's projects too but then he likes them in handled shopping bags rather than freezer bags/boxes so I left his stuff alone. In open storage like that he risks iguanas crawling into it and tangling things. Madness.

I played with one of the toy weaving looms for a short bit before surrendering it to Paul who wants to make a sampler thingie on it and learn to use it. While he did that I started square #1 in navy, but it's too dark at night to deal with dark yarn comfortably so I changed to #2 in Half double Crochet in the Claret:

Changed the square's border a bit also -- The first time around I did it in the claret and for the 2nd round of sc i did it in the soft white. Then the white looked more neat against the claret. It's going to screw with my border around the whole afghan, but I'll worry about that when I get there.
