2, 2004 -- Craft blog tips.Weather
is starting to get pooey so no more pix for today. Wendy
was nice enough to share some idea/tips for what she likes to see in a craft blog
so I'm copying it here so I can remember it as I develop mine. Adding others as
they come. Good
to see: - Fairly
frequent updates.
- photos
of finished projects or things you are working on
- links
to patterns/ideas you've done
- Tips/suggestions/ideas
- Questions
you want readers to answer (about colour choice, suggestion, etc)
- a
little off topic stuff here and there
- good
descriptions of technique. If you've done something really cool and different,
let me know how you did it!
Not
Good to see:
- mis-typing
on purpose/"cool talk" where you use a lot of slang
- too
much political talk/forcing your ideas and opinions
- elitism
(like if you use red heart yarn you are a crappy crafter or something)
Anyone
else got items to add? Send them! The
Red Heart bit made me laugh because rarely do I use anything but. I like it being
cheap and I like that it can take a LOT of abuse. I don't know how many times
one of the iguanas and their sharp claws have mauled something. When Galahad was
little he used to try to eat the green stripes in Paul's rainbow blanket! It
also doesn't bother may allergies so it's nice to fall back on. |
