October 11, 2004 --#25: Aligned Shells and jacket continues

Last night I started on squares again, got this one done and then called it quits:

It's #25 -- aligned shells. I did it in an "H" hook and it went quickly since it's just dc's spaced out like this once the foundation is set:

Ch3 (this counts as first dc) and turn. Then (skip 2 st, 5 dc in next st, sk2, dc in next st) repeat to the end of the row ending on the single dc.

Not terribly exciting for me -- I've done this before for a blanket. Only I think instead of (5 dc's) for the shell it was (2 dc, ch, 2 dc).

Anyway, I got sick of looking at squares and changed over to the jacket because today after we get my glasses and lunch we're stopping to get me more yarn.

One skein got me a little over 12 inches up the back so another skein should get me to the 23" the pattern calls for. That light blue in the bottom right corner? That made me laugh because it's my pregnant belly sneaking into the picture without my realizing it. :)

Excited about yarn shopping. I know I need more homespun for the jacket project, but I'm eager to try new yarn -- maybe for socks. Or for baby things. Or for just for fun. I'm still loathe to try animal yarns -- wool got me so itchy and bothered my allergies so much that I'm nervy about trying others. Maybe silk though... I've had silk clothing that didn't bother me so perhaps silk-based yarn wouldn't be so bad?
