13, 2004 --Things I'm playing withThe
cashier at Jo-Ann's asked me this weekend what I was making with the yarn I was
buying and I told her sweaters and she asked if they were for Xmas and if I was
fast at doing projects. I told her they were for myself and that I wasn't fast
for any one project because I start 5 or 6 projects and then skip around until
they get done. I can't deal with only working on one thing -- I get bored. Unless
it's a small thing like a hat or baby clothing item. Then I can get it done fairly
quickly. So
incomplete project updates: 63
Block afghan: 10 blocks down and I have to give it a rest now because
I'm sick of looking at it and its colors. Homespun
Flattering Jacket: I got more homespun purple yarn for it but haven't yet
picked up where I left off on the back. On
a related note, the homespun blue and green: Since working with the purple for
the flattering jacket, I tried swatches of these darker colors with an "N"
and a "P" hook last night. Still a bit of a struggle to see the loops
in such dark colors but I think I can manage it so I've been thinking of using
it up by making something for the nieces. Bernat
baby cardigan: Done as far as I can go but I heard back from Mom who said
she'd help me deal with the zipper part. Either supervise me doing it or do it
for me. I think I trust her to do it for me more than I trust myself but I think
betwen here and there I'll whip up a little purse thing so I have something to
practice putting a zipper on without wrecking the actual baby sweater. Microspun:
It's resting until my Nov. ultrasound. If it's a girl I'll continue with the shell
pattern. If it's a boy I'm ripping it down to the ribbing and starting a less
girly pattern for the body. Fair
Isle afghan: I'm getting interested in this again and it's probably what I'll
work on tonight. Complete
project updates? Yes, one. My great-nephew was born yesterday so tomorrow
I'm mailing the green, blue, and aqua "merry and
bright" mile-a-minute afghan to him along with some other little things
as a present. I'm a great-aunt AGAIN before I get to be a mom myself!
