January
15 , 2004 -- Baby Itsy Bitsy SpiderI
got some more remnant fabric on the sewing front to practice on more doll quilts
but I haven't yet gotten around to cutting them. I can't find my rotary cutter
and it is starting to annoy me! Instead
I went back to working on baby afghans. I'd started doing one in a lime green
yarn that was DC's and puff stitch columns but after getting 15 inches tall I
decided the overall look of it was too plain. I changed over to the Itsy Bitsy
Spider pattern from Our
Best Baby Afghans. (It's really the baby version of the Lacy
Blocks.)
Here's
a block section up close:
I think it worked out a lot better than the first time I tried to do this pattern.
I can't remember now why I did "Lacy Blocks" through the front loop
only, but this time I did it through both and it's not so droopy. Probably a combination
of the smaller size, sport weight yarn, going through both loops, and my improvement
in gauge. Detail
of "Lacy Blocks" for comparison:
I
didn't do the suggested picot edging. Instead I just did a round of plain SC's.
This blanket already has so many holes I didn't want to add more right at the
edge for baby fingers to get stuck in. <<
