Training
Walk 9/7
- Focus: 3 miles
- Distance: 3 miles
- Duration:
31 min
- Where: gym on a crosstrainer
The goofy toe has me a
bit behind on the schedule, so tomorrow I need to do the missing 3 mile workout
and then I'm back on track. Took it easy biking yesterday, and I had no more ouchies
when I walked so I just went to gym this morning. All seems normal, toe inspection
reveals nothing more shocking than traces of a bruise and a red line across the
place in the quick that marks where the nail had gotten partially lifted. I don't
dare move it because it grosses me out so I can't say if it's stuck back on or
if it's still lifting or what. It's been so long since I got a nail injury I can't
remember how long those take to heal.
Asking Paul is no good -- he just
tells me I am lucky it's not so bad I have to have my toenail drilled. It's this
horrible story about his brother's toenail that got banged up badly and a big
black bruise was under the nail and their Dad decided to drill a hole in the nail
to let the blood flow to prevent toenail loss. Very dramatic and scary. He drilled
the hole and the toenail was saved and everything was fine so his Dad knew what
he was talking about, but I certainly wouldn't let my Dad drill a hole in my toenail.
What if he went too far?!
Paul said when he later got a toenail injury he
hid it from his Dad until the toenail fell off on it's own because he rather do
that than have his Dad drill holes in his nails. Then he reminds me we not only
have a drill and a Dremel, we also have several small jeweler's bits for a small
hand drill he uses for his model planes. So if I ever want my toenail drilled....
Yow!
Gives me the woolies!
Anyway, I'm glad this week is still a pretty easy
one as far as mileage. It doesn't start getting ugly until October. All the more
reason to concentrate on fundraising stuff this month!

Ugh.
I was so excited about working out this evening, after the crappy day I had. I
knew I was in trouble when I turned in a over-10:00 first lap of the Kitty Tour.
After lap 2, which was also over-10:00, my back hurt so much that I called it
quits for tonight and see how much better I am tomorrow to get in another three
miles. Only one mile, in 20:48; but that's not what's bugging me. What's bugging
me is why does my back hurt? Is it still after hauling monitors and CPUs on Sunday?
If that's the case, then why wasn't it uncomfortable for my 3.5-miler on Monday?
Or is it the resulting lack of exercise between Monday and today?
I don't know.
I'm so confused.
In other news, though, I managed to figure out how to tell
my nifty lap watch that I've started another workout, and to separate the sets
of laps into 'runs'. Yaay!

Ow. I fell and
pulled part of my 2nd toenail on my right foot off. Yuck! The only good thing
is that I didn't do anything to the bad left ankle, and I can walk around fine.
It looks like it will heal fast, just a little tender from the bruise.
