Been waaay too distracted with birthday stuff! Yes, I am 25 now! Here's a quick log report:

  • 9/26: 30 min cross trainer instead of 30 min run
  • 9/27: skipped evening workout in favor of birthday dinner with parents
  • 9/28: 30 min cross trainer, instead of 30 min run

It's not quite what the schedule predicted for this week but it's just been too crazy over here with birthday jollies. I've been having way too much fun!

Eating out on Wednesday with my parents wasn't horrid -- I had a very tasty brown rice and spicy eggplant thing, plus a little chocolate cake I made.No vegan issues at all. The next day I got right back on track with food logging. I'm pleased because usually my birthday starts a big downward spiral over the next several months of crazy holiday/party eating! Between my family and my in laws there are simply too many things going on from here til after New Year's apart from the regular holidays. So many birthdays and anniversaries! So that's 1 down, 9 more family events things to go.

Paul got me a 13 function wireless bike odometer thingie and gave it to me Wednesday night. It's got some other functions besides distance, time, speed, mileage, etc but I have to read the instructions to figure it all out. The coolest part about it is that it's wireless so I don't have to use little cable ties to keep the wire along the frame like Paul has to do with his. It can't be too tight because then you can't turn but you also can't leave all this wire flapping around. Even with trying to keep it neat with the cable ties he's already snapped the wire on his lots of times because it gets snagged while we've been out biking in the woods. He resodders it every time and it works again but he said if mine works out well then when his dies beyond repair he'll just switch to wireless.

Can't wait to go biking though -- there is a cold front moving through here. The high's for next week are in the mid 80's and the night temps are in the high 60's and low 70's! Go fall! Yaaaaaaaay! Just a wee 5 degrees cooler and it will be PERFECT even in the middle of the afternoon! Not more baking heat! No more afternoon hurricane season thunderstorms! No more tornado warnings! We can go rollerblading again! We like to skate on the weekends all over campus because there is soooo much pavement and blacktop space there without traffic worries. Campus is practically deserted on the weekends so there is not even too many pedestrian traffic concerns. We don't like to do that in the summer though because the parking lots and stuff just get too dang hot and unbearable. But fall is on it's way! Yaaaay!

Like Paul, my parents also decided Sports Authority was the place to find me a present since half of my wishlist was fitness oriented gear. But they did not get anything on the list and opted to surprise me instead. So guess what they brought me this afternoon in their van? A 13 foot trampoline! I am still in shock! It's such a huge extravagance! I wasn't expecting anything like THAT!

I guess after eons of telling me "No, you aren't old enough for a trampoline! You'll fall down and crack your head open!" they decided 25 yrs old was finally old enough. Putting it together with Dad was a workout in of itself and jumping around in it was too cool! I never did that before! When Paul got home he was also shocked when he found this monster trampoline out in the yard but he changed into play clothes and we stayed out playing on it until it got too dark to see.

I can sum up my last week in this one sentence:

A golfball to the head is NOT recommended for daily consumption.

I'm going to get back on track now, I promise.

Training Walk 9/25/00

  • Focus: Walk or XT for 40 min
  • Duration: 45 min
  • Locale: gym on elliptical cross trainer @ 8:30 PM
  • Distance: 4.18 miles
  • Calories Burned: 482
  • Music: Power Puff Girls: Heroes and Villains

Ok, I am back. New schedule, better mood, bouts of insomnia on the mend, AND staying on top of that 3L water to avoid dehydration headaches. Not being able to sleep was making me very grouchy and irritable. The high today was 96 deg F -- O-town doesn't quite agree with me that it ought to be fall and cooler by now.! Blah! On the water front, I printed and slapped the week's menu and water intake on the fridge with check boxes. Do you know how many cups 3L is? 12 ish cups. I quit drinking out of regular mugs and I've been drinking out a two-cup measuring cup just so I can check them off faster.

Paul got home late, so I went to gym late but it was ok. Not too crowded, and the AC was on and the indoor temps were good so it went pretty well. Instead of twenty minutes into it, I could feel the high kicking in at 15 minutes, so that was good. Have to check my lacing on my left foot -- toes started falling asleep.

Asked Paul if he'd be ok for the 10K (he is NOT exercising at all) and he said he'd be fine but I think this weekend I will make him cover the distance so he knows ahead of time how it's going to feel. I want to buy him new sneaks but he won't cooperate -- he can't stand shopping!

Here's the general pattern for the new schedule:

  • Mon: Walk or XT for 40 min.
  • Tues: run/walk 30-45 min
  • Wed: walk or XT
  • Thurs: run/walk 30-45 min
  • Fri: walk or XT
  • Sat: rest
  • Sun: long run

The only one that has a set mileage is the long run and that changes each week. This week it's 9 miles. Tomorrow it's jogging around on pavement around my neighborhood. I am secretly dreading this, but my new sports watched shipped today and I am looking forward to that. Pray for good weather -- I really do not fancy going to gym for a treadmill session. I need to be OUTSIDE!!!!
