November 22, 2000 Days are blending together... Took
Monday off due to some slight knee problem ... not exactly PAIN... but something....
and figured I better rest to make sure it wasn't something in the early stages
of getting worse. I think it was just shoe issues. Took today's cardio off
and went to Sports Authority to try to find me new shoes. The ones I want are
down to $55, but they didn't have them in my size so I will have to try a different
store. Came home and did Monday's weights, and tomorrow I'll go to the gym so
I'm not pounding on my shoe but I REALLY need new ones this week before the long
session. These are only going to give my more knee issues if I keep pushing it.
I think the cushioning on the inside are too shot to be my gym shoes although
they are still good enough for yardwork. posted by Cat
"Astrophe" 3:44 AM Went biking
for 6 mile instead of doing the 4 mile walk/jog thing from Tuesday. (I'm one day
off this week.) I wore the NF sweatshirt and my navy/lapis leggings. The leggings
worked out well. At first they were a bit cool, but once I warmed up they were
perfect -- warm, but not stifling. The sweatshirt was great starting out, but
then it was TOO warm once I'd been going for a while. It's 55 deg F right now
and dropping now that light is gone. We're supposed to hit a low of 42 F tonight.
I got my new long-sleeve wicking shirts today, so I'll have those to try out later
this week in the cool and see how they fare. Hopefully better than the sweatshirt!
I am just ill-prepared for cold/cool weather in general, and cold/cool weather
FITNESS clothing? Hahahahahaha. Paul went out in his usual shorts and T-shirt,
but made the concession and threw on a ratty long-sleeve flannel shirt. Then he
complained he should have worn jeans because with all the wind whapping him while
riding made his legs too cold. He likes his socks I gave him for his birthday.
They are Pearl Izumi wicking ones I got on sale. After much frustration calling
every Sports Authority, Just For Feet, Champs, and Foot Locker in town, who all
do NOT have the shoe I want in my 10B, much less at the $55 sale price from whenever
it was they went on sale... I broke down and picked them up for $70 at the Sports
Authority on-line. Better than the original $90 tag, but not as good as a $55
sale would have been. Oh, well! They ought to come in this weekend or early
next week, so I can get back to jogging without it bugging my foot once I get
over 3 miles. I predict lots of biking interim. posted

I got a call this evening from the Arthritis people telling me that the 5K
I registered for had changed the fees so I have to send them another check. I
told the person to e-mail me the address to mail it to. Weights after dinner,
gotta clean the fridge... usually stuff. The only other interesting/annoying thing
was that I got my pink Penguin hat in the mail but it's too small so I have to
return it! :P posted by Cat "Astrophe" 7:05 PM
November 19, 2000 I'm missing one
3.75 mile session, but I'll nail that one tomorrow morning. Other than that I'm
basically caught up with everything I wanted to have done this week, including
this NF interview thingie I had to get photos developed to complete. The 7 mile
long session for this week went really well. I did it at the gym since I had to
drop off film for 1-hour processing and the gym is just up the block. It felt
really good because everything felt right and I found a pace where I was comfortable
and just went with it. Arms and legs working together, water spaced out nicely,
no burping breakfast or anything annoying like that, clothes fit well, no calf
cramps, etc. I didn't have breathing problems either, just a false alarm with
some lady's overuse of perfume itching my nose. I got it done in 71 minutes, or
10 min, 8 sec per mile. After I ate lunch at home and rested a bit, Paul and I
did our biking for this evening. So basically a nice day. posted
