Week Twenty-One: Reflections

This week has been about changing outlooks and visualizing ourselves at the marathon, as runners in general. The weather starts getting cold for Adrith and she gets ready for the change in seasons.

"I can't believe I'm writing this, and Cat may want to kill me, but.. It's starting to get cold!! I went to Wal-Mart this afternoon to get an indoor/outdoor thermometer and a pair of lined windpants."~Adrith

Adrith also feels a new surge of energy after hearing her three-year-old neighbor compliment her.

"As I approached my car where the Holy Water Bottle rested, Little Joe came running towards the street (followed closely by his mum). She leaned down to grasp Little Joe's jacket, and as she straightened up, said quietly, 'You're doing great.' I said, as loud as I could, 'Thanks.' After four or five running cycles, it came out as a loud whisper. 'We saw Adrith!' Little Joe pipes up. Ursula and I say 'Yes, you did!' 'And she was RUNNING!' he says loudly. He is clearly impressed.. As impressed as a 3-year-old can be. So, there you have it folks -- from Little Joe Weatherbee, the three-year-old in the know. I am a runner." ~Adrith

Cat plans to check out the terrain at the theme parks to help her visualize what it will be liek racing later.

"This weekend we are going to Disney and we will be taking photos of parts of the course. We've planned this before, but weather or something always came up. Well, weather looks good so let's hope it happens! I really want to get a feel for it! " ~Cat

She also debates doing the Disney 10K to help her put the bigger race in January into focus as well.

"I'm running out of time and I am still going back and forth over the Disney 10K. The website says 15 min pace, when I called they said walkers are welcome if they can keep a 17 min pace. I'm nervous because even though I know I can go faster than those on a crosstrainer, on the ground it is very different. This one is 6.2 miles. Paul says he's fine going, and I have two other races as options, but c'mon. This one is the ideal because I'd get to try out part of the course around the Epcot showcase. Secretly I feel pressured, so I might just do the UCF 5 Mile race instead. Almost the same distance but much more low-key than a Disney event. I know I want to and I need to do my 2nd race, but ARGH!" ~Cat
