Week Twenty-Six: The Great Push

"Little Tokyo Townsville, are you ready??" - Adrith
This line, quoted from one of the PowerPuff Girls' episodes, epitomizes how we're feeling going into the last twelve weeks of training. As far as training goes, this is one of our best weeks, with high spirits and hard workouts.

"I love the cool weather. I'm definitely in better spirits for this round. The tail of the summer stuff was just witchy!" - Astrophe
The training sessions - some go smoothly, some not so smoothly. But all are helpful.
"I got home. I changed into my running apparel. I made my gatorade. I went out to the car and did my stretching. My first "warmup" lap passed in 9:33. I started doing 1 min run/3 min walk intervals, and the remaining laps passed in 9:11, 9:17, 9:21, 9:28, and 9:12. Though I didn't have any sub-9 minute laps, I am very pleased with the results of my effort - I've not had such consistent split times ever." - Adrith

"Ok, I tried REALLY hard this evening to go out for the planned workout but the temptation to hang around at home was simply too much! UPS delivered the Bowflex so Paul put it together while I handed him tools and watched. Then we spent some time taking turns doing different things with it. ... It feels weird to be doing weights with Paul. It's never been something we did since he hates the gym so much. This is going to be interesting!" - Cat/Astrophe

"I managed to get two good running bursts out of my legs, but on #3 I noticed that I could only run for a few seconds before my legs forced me into this weird shuffle/waddle. I tried to compensate by taking an extra two minutes of walking to recover, and deep-breathing, but it was of no use. After lap 3 I turned the 2-minute timer off and just ran when I felt like it - those runs lasted between 20 and 40 seconds each. After four laps, I recognized that going any more put me in on the fast track to injury which I didn't want to be on, especially with a 5k tomorrow, and stopped." - Adrith

It feels really good to be back on track.
