January 18, 2001

Welcome to the new look for the Road to Orlando training/fundraising site. We thought a new color would be a great way to start off a new year of health and fitness.

Please note that not all the links work yet - we're doing some internal housekeeping which should be completed by the middle of next week. Thanks for your patience, and thanks for hanging in there with us! Your interest in our endeavor is greatly appreciated.

January 16th: one and a half miles in 30 minutes, with three jogging sprints of 1 minute, 1:15, and 1:30 respectively. I guess switching to walking only for the half-'thon really set me back a little bit as far as my running is concerned; I used to be able to knock out two minutes of running at a time before having to walk.

Or maybe it's the fact that I'm running on the treadmill, and probably running faster on it than I did on the pavement at home. I'd be running outside, but one of the apartment complexes I run through doesn't believe in clearing off their parking lot all the way down to the pavement. Until it gets warm enough to melt all that ice and slush, I risk injury every time I try to run through it.

So the treadmill it is. Unfortunately.

But at least I can run for a minute or more - this puts me on a good track towards running my very first 5k in May.

Like Adrith said -- website overhaul.

My socks are not here yet because they had an unexpected delay in shipping. I jsut ordered an Enell sports bra. How do you wash a wicking hat?

Clothing dilemmas aside, I need to work on building up to running and then make up my mind about the next race: walk the longer distnace or run the shroter one? Good weather here only lasts til about April-May. After that it's too dang hot to be outside. I'm going to hang my race big safety pins for summer, so if I want any more races I need to do them NOW.

VERY looking forward to my bike trip. 50 miles of biking!
