Got my new shoes today! I compared
them to the current shoes. While the uppers are about the same excpet the the
new ones are virgin white and the others are slightly scuffed, when I flipped
them over to compare treads I saw that the front middle treads were rubbing down
even though the back of the treads were in good shape. Common wear spot for me.
I guess the half marathon on Disney pavement rubbed a lot of the treads off! The
old pair will still be fine for biking, and I have 2 new pairs to rotate for wogging
that should take me into summer. I seriously need to buy colored laces so I can
color code my sneaks. 4 pairs of 878's flaoting around the house simply will not
do!

Training 2/21 - Schedule:
8 cycles of 30 sec jog/4.5 min walk
- Actual: rest
Took an unexpected
day off because I woke up with knee pain. I think it's from the dying shoes and
the wogging Monday. Hoping new shoes will arrive soon!

Training 2/22 - What: full
body weights
- Duration: 45 min
Had another headache again... but
then I was low on water too. Have to try to stay better hydrated. I upped the
weights on 4 of the exercises in my weight routine. Doable, but challenging. Was
left so pooped with upper body that I had to skip the last one -- lat pull down.
Will have to do that one first next time I do weights. Did about 15 min of yoga
for a cool down. I hope it was enough stretching... man I'm going to feel it tomorrow!

Training 2/20 - What: full body weights
- Duration: 45 min
Weights today. Went fine -- some of the sets are feeling easier so
I may be ready to up the weights on bicep curls and lat. raises. Last night I
slept really deep and dreamless -- felt great. Slight headache I was having over
the last few days went away. I think I must have been slightly dehydrated without
knowing it.

Training
yesterday (for Monday): 18 very painful minutes on the treadmill - went about
a mile. I won't go into details, but let me just say that I was incredibly stupid.
Training today: 3.02 miles in 60 minutes. I'd forgotten how very, very boring
an hour on the treadmill can be. I don't know how we're going to fix that except
by keeping the extra AA batteries close to the Walkman, and running outside on
the weekends as much as possible..
The foot pain that I had last night (from
being very very stupid) was greatly reduced this evening as I ran sensibly and
sanely, but all the same, the running shoes are going to need to be replaced.
There is no way around it.
Had a box from Amazon.com this evening when I came
home from work - Cat sent me a copy of the book our training schedule is in. Cool!
Thank you, Cat!!

Last night's training got lost among
the W-2s and the 1099s and the 1098s. I was doing my taxes so that I could buy
myself some new running shoes with the proceeds. As it turns out.. we won't
be getting proceeds. We've got to send the IRS money instead. The money for new
running shoes is going to have to come from somewhere else.
The GOOD thing
is that Joe is working steadily again, so our income should be increased in the
next week or two. This will give me the freedom to spend the $150 I made teaching
on the 9th on new running shoes..
I'll be at the gym tonight instead. This
thing will get smoothed out yet.

Training 2/19 - Distance:
3.75 miles
- Where: Softball field parking lots
- What: warm-up, 7 cycles
of 30 sec jog/4.5 min walk, cool down
- Duration: 60 min
- Temp: 75 deg. F
with wind.
Today was a nice day for training -- cloudy, lots of wind.
Even though I wore my Mayfaire 5K cotton T-shirt I wasn't drenched in sweat because
it was very refreshing outside. While I'm still not crazy about the large back
to the Enell sports bra (means sweat collects in my back) I LOVED how it felt
on the jogging parts because my boobs weren't bouncing around. I actually went
faster than I normally do jogging just because boobies weren't holding me back.
Whee!
I took the 4.5 min walking sprints at a brisk but not max speed. The
30 sec jogging sprints were pretty easy up until #5... then I started to get pooped.
No cramping, but during the warm-up and the first few cycles I had roaming tightness
-- first in my left calf, then in my right calf, then in my butt, then in my quads,
then in my left hip flexor. Eventually after I was out there for a while everything
limbered up and I got past the tightness. It's from not being out in so long.
Next week when we do 1 min jog sprints I might have a little trouble if I don't
get my shoes taken care of. I thought they still had some miles on them but I
started getting hot foot on my right foot, so I best order me a pair today so
it will be here before the jogging sprints are longer. Otherwise it will make
me CRAZY!
I drank 3 cups of water before I left and 3 cups when I came back,
but I think when the sessions get longer I'm going to have to take water with
me. I just get too thirsty.
Food Check
Without going into great
detail over what exactly I'll be eating today, the proportions work out to...
- 1693 total calories (shooting for 1700)
- 65%ish carbs (shooting for 60-65%)
- 18%ish fat (shooting for 20-25%)
- 19%ish protein (shooting for 16-20%)
I figure I better keep some track of this stuff here while training
