Ok, notes from second session of weights for this week. Trying out notes in a table to see if I like it better that way &

Lat Row: 4(8) @ 90 lbs Felt easy. Next time I need to move to 100 lbs and cut back to 5 reps
Lat Pulldown: 4(8) @ 90 lbs Felt easy at first, medium on the last. Try 100 next time to see if I m ready or not.
Bicep Curl: 4(8) @ 35 lbs on each side Felt medium-hard. Keep it the same next time.
Reverse Curl: 4(5) @ 25 lbs on each side Felt easy on the right arm, medium on the left. So right may be ready for more reps, keep left the same.
Tricep Press: 4(8) @ 25 lbs on each side Felt easy at first, medium later. If I m ready to move on I will. If not, keep the same.
French Press: 4(5) @ 40 lbs It s not so much the weight that makes it hard it s being the last over several things that use triceps! By the time I get to this one I feel it burning. Toy with changing the order of things maybe?

91 deg today. I can't believe it!

Allergies going nuts -- landscaping people came to stir up the grass. Ew. Damn hot today too. Hoping Paul will want to go out at night again. Going for three weight workouts this week. Here's the notes from the first...
  • Bench Press: 3 sets of 8 reps @ 80 lbs (felt medium, last time was hard)
  • Chest Fly: 4(5)40 E (Last time felt MH, need to up reps)
  • Shoulder Press: 4(5)50 M (upped the weight from 40)
  • Deltoid Rows: 4(5)70 E (upped from 60 and still felt easy...will up reps next time)
  • Lat Raise: 4(8)20 lbs E (at long last I might be ready to go to 30! Will try it at 5 reps next time)
  • Shoulder Shrug: 4(8)70 E (need to up weights next time)
Did in in the afternoon and I felt fresher than at night. Or maybe it was the 1938 swing music? Whatever. Better mood in general.

Cat - he is going to be waiting at the finish line for quite a while for us, methinks! ;)

Walked 1.5 miles yesterday, 1.5 miles today. No idea of time - need to replace the watch battery. Going to the gym now to get in some weights work.

Am miffed: got the official results book today, and of course we're not in there. Not this year.. but definitely next.

Saturday Training

  • Distance: 2.7 miles
  • Where: parking lot
  • When: midnight - 1 AM (60 min total)
  • Speed: varied
  • Calories Burned: 325

We went out at midnight to wog and we spent about an hour out in the parking lot. If Paul sticks with this, I may have found a possible solution to the summer heat problem -- just go with him at night! I won't do it alone, but if he's with me I feel better about it. The lot is rimmed in sodium arc lights, so the lighting is decent. I just don't like lurking around at night alone.

Both of us did walk/jog intervals. We warmed up together and then we split up to do our own things. We just waved at each other across the lots once in a while. I had my beeping watch, so my intervals were time based -- 1 min jog, 4 min walk. My speed over the intervals went like this... during the walking bits, I hung in there around 3.0 mph. On the first jog bit, I zoomed up to 6 mph, then went back down to a walk, then paused to stretch my calves again really quick. Went too fast and got crampy. The second and third jog bits I got up to 5 mph, then when my beeper when off back to the walk. Less of a cramp issue on those. The last one I was getting tired, so I went up to 4.25 mph and then to the walk. I've yet to jog all around the lot in one jog interval. 1 min. isn't enough time for me to get around.

Paul did though, since he was doing his intervals by distance-based rather than time-based. He'd run one lap, walk one lap, then do another one. He looks funny running. I just realized tonight that I never in all the seven years we've been together, seen him run for a long time. It was odd. He said I look funny running to him too.

I cut across the lot to catch up to him so we could cool down walk together. He frogot to put on a wickgin shirt and his cotton T-shirt was drenched. He told me his thighs and hamstrings were burning. Things he wants to work on -- endurance and working up to 13.1 miles. Things I want to work on -- losing some weight to ease pressure on my knees when I jog. Because if I want to try to do this next Disney 3 hrs or better, I have to jog part of it. Once my time intervals stretch out it will be interesting to see where I hold my speed and for how long. Right now I can make any predictions for finishing times for Disney. To do it in 3 hrs though, I know I have to have a 13 min, 44 sec per mile pace.

Checked all my food junk for this week. (Got too tedious to do daily) Here's the averages:

  • 1954 total calories per day average
  • 58% of calories were carbs (285 g)
  • 17% of calories were protein (82 g)
  • 25% of calories were fat (54 g)

I'm happy my proportions look happy for training. Also happy I lost 1 lb. Yay. :)

Sunday Training

  • Schedule: optional 15 min mile walk
  • Actual: 50 min walk
  • Distance: 2.6 miles
  • Where: parking lot
  • Speed: 3.1 mph average
  • Calories Burned: 296

We went out to the lots again at night. It was 90 deg F today during the day. UGH! I did a plain walk rather than walk/jog because my calf muscles were tight and I was the one in charge of our water bottle. It was in the "purse" style holder and I didn't want to jog and have it bapping at my legs. Paul didn't want to hold it because he planned on wogging. He did 3 intervals instead of 4 like last night. We got home and my walk registered as a pretty even speed all the way across except for two slight dips for when I paused to stretch my calves again. I'm liking this SportBrain thing. I like seeing my workout graphs in such detail! Paul, the speed demon, nailed 9 MPH and 8 min miles on his jog bits on his graphs. (!!!!)

I'm beginning to think that if he felt like working at it, he could probably place for his age group in a 5K or something. I mean, this is how he runs after a hiatus of almost ten years and taking up smoking?! Jeez! What on earth is he going to be like at Disney after spending a few months training?!
