April 20, 2001 Training 4/19
| Seated Lat Row: 4(10) 90 lbs | Last
time was too easy, but not ready for 50 lbs, so I went from sets of 8 to sets
of 10. Keep it here for next time. | | Lat
Pulldown 4(10) 90 lbs | Last time was too easy, but
not ready for 50 lbs, so I went from sets of 8 to sets of 10. Keep it here for
next time. | | Bicep Curl 4(8) 40 lbs | Medium
at first, then hard on the last set. Felt good. | | Reverse
Curls 4(8) 25 lbs | Same as last time, felt good. |
| Tricep Press 3(5) 30 lbs | Hard,
but I think because I changed the order and did this last more than anything else.
i was tired. | | Tricep Pushdown 3(5) 60 | Felt
good. Keep it here. | | French Press 4(5)
40 lbs | I was right about changing the order. Did
this one first of the trciep stuff anmd this time it felt easy. | Took
my car in for repairs Wednesday so today I caught up with weights. I also went
to gym to do cardio but part way into in I stepped wrong and did something to
my foot. It feels like an ankle sprain feels, only it's not my ankle but the bottom
of my right foot. Went home and iced it. posted by Cat

Training 4/16 and 4/17
| Bench Press: 4(8) 80 lbs | Went for
one set beyond what I did last time. Felt hard. Keeping it the same next time. |
| Chest Fly 4(8) 40 lbs | Went
for more reps and it still felt easy. I ought to try it at a higher weight next
time. | | Shoulder Press 3(8) 50 lbs | Less
sets, but with more reps at the same weight as before. Felt harder that way so
I'll keep it the same next time. | | Deltoid
Rows 4(8) 70 lbs | Same weight, more reps. Felt medium.
Keep it the same next time. | | Lat Shoulder
Raise 6(8) 20 lbs | Tried it at 30 lbs, and I'm not
ready, but 20 lbs is too easy and there's no way to set it to 25 lbs. which I
have a feeling would be just right. So I went back to 20 and went for more reps
instead. | | Shoulder Shrug 4(10) 80 | Upped
the weight and it still felt easy so I kept going on with more reps til. I may
try this at a higher weight next time. It's weird. | So
much for weights from Monday. The weather was bad on Monday so I didn't go out
then for the cardio stuff. I did it tonight (Tues.) instead at night with Paul.
No intervals, just a straight walk. My calves were really tight the whole time!

I've
set some jog/walk points and done up the little map-thingy. The orangey buildings
are part of my apartment complex, and the numbers on the buildings correlate to
their number on Western Ave, my street. The purple buildings are part of the neighboring
apartment complex, and their numbers are arbitrary (because I don't really pay
attention to their apartment building numbers). Anything grey is a street, driveway,
or parking lot. ![MAP]() After a warmup, start
running at the red dot marked (unclearly) S/F. At the corner next to 3 Western,
switch to walking. Where the sidewalk begins on Martha's Way, switch to jogging.
At the corner near Purple-5, switch to walking. At the corner near Purple-4, switch
to running. Run through the parking lot; switch to walking at the corner of Purple-6.
Walk up the little hill; at the top of the hill at the corner of Purple 7, switch
to jogging. Jog past Purple-7 and between Purple-7 and Purple-8 and down the little
hill. At the bottom of the little hill, switch to walking. Walk all the way to
the S/F. That's about one half-mile in total. Whew! posted

Happy Birthday! No, it's not until next week - but my dad turned a one-time
thing into an annual tradition this year, and bought me another pair of running
shoes as a gift today. This year: the Saucony Grid Stabil, recommended to me by
the fine folks at Runner's Alley. Just took them
out for a 1.5-mile spin; they feel pretty good for brand-new out of the box shoes.
Better than the NB 853's do out of the box, and they are THE shoe that works best
for me. Unfortunately, the 853's have been discontinued; and I bought the last
8.5-D pair on the seacoast of NH. So I'm going to transition to the Sauconys as
my main shoe, God and my feet willing. Did a little jogging in today's trip
around the Kitty Tour. My watch, though it now keeps time and clocks laps like
a champ, has stopped making audible noises. So much for the 2-minute beeps! So
I'm jogging when I can for the time being; in the next few days, maybe over the
weekend if not sooner, I'll set up some jogging landmarks to go by. And do up
a little map-thingy of the Kitty Tour, with them marked, so you all can "see"
what I do most every night these days. :) posted by Adrith 7:00 PM
Two posts in one day. Cool! Weights Notes: Signed
up for a program-designing session next Wednesday night, and did four lower bod
machines and four upper bod machines tonight. Lower: Leg press, 2x10 @ 150#,
felt fairly easy. Leg extension, 2x10 @ 30#, felt harder. Leg curl, 2x10
@ 50#, felt fairly easy. Rotary calf(?), 2x10 @ 50#, felt REALLY easy. Upper: Chest
press, 2x10 @ 30#, felt harder. Fly, 2x10 @ 10#, felt fairly easy. Overhead
press, 2x10 @ 10#, felt fairly easy. Pulldown, 2x10 @ 30#, felt REALLY easy.
I know I probably should have upped the weight on the really easy ones at the
least - but all I could remember was that feeling of no control in putting the
phone down after my weights orientation at UNH, and I don't want to deal with
that right now. Hopefully, the session next week will give me a better indicator
of what weights I should be working at; I know that the 150 lb leg press is where
I was lifting at during my UNH orientation, but the rest are just guesses. I suppose
I could get a copy of my orientation sheet from before, for a better idea of what
numbers I should start at.. Tomorrow night, the other half of the weight machines
in the room. posted by Adrith 10:54 PM
April 16, 2001 Average this week was ok proportion-wise
(58% carbs, 14% protein, 28% fat) but just too much calorie wise. (2295 cal.)
Lots of sweet tooth type cravings and a 2 lb gain which I'm pretty sure went all
to my boobs because I'm sore, tender, crabby, and waiting for this period to hurry
up and get over with already. :P posted by Cat "Astrophe" 2:19
AM
I'm so sorry for not keeping
up. I've recently instituted some changes over at my
online journal that have kept my attention. I'll try to do better. Thursday
night (?) and tonight I went for walks with K - Thursday's 2 miles, tonight's
1.5. Not doing too badly on the cardio front, but I REALLY need to get a weights
regimen started; I went to the driving range on Saturday, and I STILL feel the
aches from my shoulders! In fundraising news: up to $270 on my birthday fundraising
drive. Hope to get to $300 next week - that's my first incentive prize level.
Not that I NEED another t-shirt, but they're always nice to have - prolongs the
laundry THAT much more. ;) posted by Adrith 11:04 PM
April 15, 2001 Wore my SportBrain Saturday thinking
after errands we d go walking and the weather just was not happy. I m starting
to get really annoyed with it! Notes from third session of weights for this week:
| Leg Press: 4(8) @ 160 lbs | Felt
medium. Next time I could either up the reps or shift the weight. |
| Leg Extension: 4(8) @ 30 lbs per leg | Easy
on the right leg, medium on the left. I can probably move right leg up to 35 lbs
but I need to try more reps on left first. | | Hip
Extension: 4(8) @ 30 lbs on each side | Felt super easy, and
def. time to move up. | | Leg Curl: 4(8) @ 90 lbs | Medium.
Distracted by Power Puffs so I didn t pay more attention than that to how it
was feeling. Oops. | | | Calf Raise: 4(8) @ 160 lbs | Felt
easy at first, felt it burn some by the end because I ran through the whole thing
without stopping. I need to think about upping the weight if I can run through
32 reps like that. | | Back Extension: 4(8) @ 100 lbs | I
didn t expect it to feel easy but it did. Time to move up. | | | Resisted
Abs: 4(8) @ 90 lbs | Probably could do more reps. | |
| Resisted Obliques: 4(8) @ 45 lbs per side | Probably
could do more reps.. | | Paul was working in his
decals and I was doing weghts and we both were watching a Power Puffs Girl video
at the same time. Quite entertaining. I think my favorite of the batch was when
Professor accidentally switch everyone into other people s bodies and there was
mayhem in Townsville because of it. posted by Cat "Astrophe"
