I've been Brained!

E-mail me if you'd like to see my SportBrain journal, and I'll send you a SportBrain invitation. (There's no way currently to just link to any old SportBrain page.) Right now there's nothing but one lap of the Kitty Tour on my Brain journal, but for some strange reason it told me the Kitty Tour was 0.67 miles long. Could I have mis-measured it? I think it's more likely that I need to take the Brain to the gym and calibrate it on a treadmill. At any rate, it was a real confidence boost to see that it at least had thought I'd walked at a 4 MPH pace for .67 miles. We'll see what it thinks after I get it to the gym in a little bit!

I made arrangements with my friend Beth, the Disney Dead, to go for a virtual wog at 9 AM tomorrow - just when she's doing the first hour of her real-life marathon - the Jersey Shore is tomorrow. GO, BETH! YOU ROCK!

Training 4/26

  • Schedule:30-45 min walk/run
  • Actual 3 hr hike with friend
  • Distance: 6.7 miles
  • Speed: 2 mph average
  • Calories Burned: 771

Had a walk date with Grace to go hiking at Wekiva Springs. Took it easy because of my recent foot injury and kept a nice solid 2 mph pace. Very scenic, wonderful weather, good convo. It was a breezy 78 deg. today and we were both amazed. The rain earlier this week really cooled things off. Ran out of Body Glide though and got home with chafed thigh. I have to go buy some more.

Training 4/25

Seated Lat Row: 4(10) 90 lbsEasy.
Lat Pulldown 4(10) 90 lbsEasy.
Bicep Curl 4(8) 45 lbsSurrpsied I can do 45 lbs.
Reverse Curls 4(8) 25 lbsDid these straight through because I found out I could. Fun!
Tricep Press 3(5) 30 lbsMedium hard. Not bad.
Tricep Pushdown 3(5) 60Good, but had to concentrate.
French Press 4(5) 40 lbsDid this last or the trciep stuff-- was way tired, so it felt hard.
30 Pushups I don't know but I felt liek it today.

Rained today. Weights went really well today -- surprised by how fast bicep strength is changing. Also surprised myself by actually WANTING to do push-ups. Normally hate them But I just wanted to see if they still felt as gross as I remembered. (From the knees, not the toes). It was hard, but not as gruesome as I thought it would be. Definite improvements with upper body strength.

Training 4/23

Bench Press: 4(8) 80 lbs, hard
Chest Fly 4(8) 50 lbs, medium
Shoulder Press 3(8) 50 lbs, hard
Deltoid Rows 4(8) 70 lbs, medium
Lat Shoulder Raise 4(8) 20 lbs, medium
Shoulder Shrug 4(8) 90 lbs, medium

Had a nice weights workout. Felt it really working my shoulders. Skipped cardio. I'm not breathing well. Got up up with a totally clogged head. I don't know if it's from cleaning and the dust being stirred up bugging my allergies or I'm getting a head cold. Took a Claritin and then later took a Contac. Neither did much for my nose. Sigh. On the bright side, I've done weights consitantly for 2 weeks. Go me!

Spent the weekend doing house stuff and family stuff.

Got my notes from Theresa (DW dietitian) and I'm supposed to go over this food plan she sent along. We have a meeting on Tuesday. For the most part, she's suggesting the same as Karen -- about 60% carbs, 20% protein, 20% fat, 1800 calories. We'll see how I like working with her... so far I like the better accessibility via e-mail.
