Ergh - when's the last time I wrote in this thing?!
Okay,
on the 20th. Well, on the 24th (last night) Joe and I did one mile of all walking.
Today,
on the 25th, we did two miles, and I ran approximately one-half mile of that two
miles. Tired! But feeling good!

Quick news -- walk with Grace this week was pleasant.
We were at the colonial mall for a change. My treadmill ships tomorrow or Monday
to their office here, and then some time next week someone is going to call me
to set up an appointment to bring it to my house and set it. Yay!
And congrats
to Adrith -- who's doing really well with another progress report with pledges.
Yay! :)

I'm getting pretty excited about fall.
The gruesome weather is on it's way out, my treadmill is in it's way in, the 5Ks
are back now that the heat is past, and since most of them are holiday themed,
I'm pretty psyched! :) I looked at my work week and had to give up some fun
time in favor of more sleep. The thyroid meds are helping a lot but I still require
more sleep than the normal person. I get run down easily. I feel really nauseated
lately too and I can't tell if it's something I'm eating, a reaction to the meds
(both indicate nausea as a side effect) or what. Fortunately my appointment is
soon and I can ask then about it.
I got a pledge from Amy today -- that was
really nice of her! :)
Made a walk date with Grace for this week so it will
be nice to have company on a workout.
Mostly I feel optimistic and glad things
are coming together. I didn't think I'd survive the summer. Whew.

(crossposted to hu xun lian and
training for maine.) Charge!
Joe and I went out for a walk last night, when we realized it was once again
hotter in the apartment than it was outside.
We did four laps of the Kitty
Tour, on a day when I should have been up to eight miles at a time. It was disappointing.
But when your knees start to hurt the way mine did last week, you back way the
hell off and take your time starting up again, even if your training schedule
says otherwise.
By the half-way mark of the last lap, I was wobbling horribly.
I was tired, and I was more than a little afraid of what this wobble indicated
about the current state of my fitness. And then I remembered that in order to
get back home, I had to walk up a hill.
Stopping and sobbing in the parking
lot was not an option.
So, at the bottom of the hill, I let into a full-out
sprint and charged up it.
Those few moments were tinged with surreality. I
looked down, and saw my legs moving fluidly and strongly. They had the right rhythm.
My feet connected with the pavement at the right times and in the right places.
At the top of the hill, I stopped. I took my next breath.
My lungs were
on fire.
Joe said, "Was that the sprinting part of the walk?"
"Yeah."
He
laughed. "Maybe next time you might try sprinting on the flats instead of up the
hill."
"I wasn't going to get up the hill otherwise," I replied.
