- What: Stroller Walk at mall
- Distance: 1+ miles on the inside loop
We decided to shop today after the portrait appointment for Julia at JCPenney's and ended up walking around the mall rather than at the park. We didn't realize everyone was having such big sales this weekend. Paul got 2 shirts and a game, I got shorts in a smaller size (woo!), and Julia got two rompers and linky things for hanging toys on her gymini and other places.
We got to nurse in the mall's "family room" which was basically a big bathroom with a nicer changing station and 1 chair. Paul sat on the counter while I nursed and then we changed Julia's diaper.
The walk was leisurely. Lots of events going on in the mall today -- including a Lucille Ball impersonator handing out candies like from the candy factory episode. So bizarre! There were camera filming a cooking show and music and who knows what else. It was fun to watch all these things but I'm glad we're home now.

Thanks to Cat for letting a visitor know that Adrith and I haven't given up. :)
My family and I are now at our new duty station and living in our new home. We love it. The city, Virginia Beach, is great. And its extremely fitness friendly.
My new housing area has walking paths. And the neighborhood is large enough to get a really good walk in each day. I'm currently trying to get my new puppy adjusted to the idea of a leash (its slow going) so I can take him for walks with me.
Last night I had my first walk in a month. I threw out my back last week and I've been having to take it easy, but I felt up for a jaunt last night. I am a little sore this morning, but I have not taken any muscle relaxers in two days, so I'm ultra sensitive to pain right now anyway. I did walk a lot faster and longer than I intended, so soreness should have been expected.
I am back up to 205 pounds, which put me even farther than my plan of hitting 180 before registering. And now my husband says he wants us to do Disney next summer and stay at a resort, so he is NOT keen at all on the marathon anymore. I'm tying to privately figure out a way I could go alone without it looking like I'm being a selfish jerk (since my husband and kids have never, ever been to Disney World). I will figure out something I hope.
It may be I have to forget it and just focus on being 'marathon ready' even if I can't participate.

Cranked it out while Julia takes a day nap. It was easy other than finding the time to fit it in today. Thank you, baby! You sleep so soundly! Yay!
You know, this week is
TV Turn Off Week.I think it's a great idea and totally agree with less TV watching. You know the "but" is coming here though... so I won't keep you in suspense.
"But I am not participating. "
We've done years sans TV so it just isn't a big deal to us.
Now that it is back on, we're still not watching a lot. I'm not really wild about most TV programming anyway -- too herky-jerky and way too many commericals. What's up with all the herpes, insominia, and condom usage commercials at night? Is that who watches Nick @ Nite? Diseased, sleepless, horny people?
I'd still rather watch old reruns than deal with today's programming.
It was really nice of Paul to get it back on though. Our TV is broken in the back so he had to go through a long round about way of using the VCR as a TV tuner so we could have the cable back on. (It's a hidden cost to our HOA fee so even if we don't want it, we're stuck paying for it.)
He knew I was worried about post-partum fitness and I can't do the gym thing as easily with a newborn so he put it all back so I can treadmill at home and be entertained while doing it. It's been broken since March 3 years ago? So it's really weird to have it back on.
Weirder still that I don't think I've missed much. Sure, when others are talking about TV things I don't know about I feel like I've lost touch with pop culture or something. But there's too many other things to be doing than watching TV and I'm not big on pop culture to start with.
We've been talking about how much TV is appropriate for when Julia is a toddler and what exactly we want to let her watch. I don't want to have Nick Jr. on all freakin' day, but I think some TV for her would be OK. Mostly likely DVD though rather than public broadcast or cable.
And here's another "but..."
BUT if your family isn't already giving the TV a rest regularly, think about finishing up TV Turn Off Week with the tube OFF.

Missed doing Monday's walk on Monday.
Too tired from Sunday night to do it in the morning after the long drive home. It was Sarah's birthday and it was an all day thing. So rather than do it Monday morning I slept in. Then last night I was too tired because Julia had a rough day because people kept waking her up! So I couldn't get her to sleep until way late last night and by that time I was wiped out myself.
So this morning I got to it. I didn't esp. want to do it, but I got it out of the way. It was easy, I was just tired. Someone posted
Seeing Results. on a board I follow so it was nice to read. It's basically what I thought about while walking and it got me through it.
With a little goal of 30 min three times a week, I'm caught back up but man... as my workout frequency goes up I am seriously going to be dragging if I can't work around baby better. It's not her fault, but it doesn't change the fact that I'll be dragging!
I told Paul I wanted to get back to the pool in the evenings after she's a bit more established in the evenings/night and working that out is going to be interesting.
I got the Mayo Clinic baby book free from
State Farm yesterday. At the time that I did it the user was "good" and the password was "neighbor" but if it's change you just use the toll free number to get the latest one. It's a very nice book.
